This image of the debris of an exploded star — known as supernova remnant 1E 0102.2-7219, or “E0102” for short — features data from NASA’s Chandra X-ray Observatory. E0102 is located about 190,000 light years away in the Small Magellanic Cloud, one of the nearest galaxies to the Milky Way. It was created when a star that was much more massive than the Sun exploded, an event that would have been visible from the Southern Hemisphere of the Earth over 1000 years ago. (via NASA)

WINTER LIGHT (INGMAR BERGMAN, 1962)
Still my all-time favorite movie, bar none. What a beast
Apparently this is a graphic representation of some of the energies involved in superstring theory. I admittedly don’t fully understand how, but I like it anyway.

Love at first sight does not exist. Because to love someone, you have to truly know them. You have to love their personality, their flaws and their imperfections. Love at first sight isn’t love. Merely lust.
I used to think this, but now I think it’s more complicated than that. Of course, what I’m about to say is dependent upon belief in reincarnation, the soul, etc, so it may be immediately irrelevant to certain readers. Anyway, I think that we are born loving who we love, and when we meet them, it is possible to recognize that you have an inherent love for them built upon past lives, a deep “soul connection”, and so forth. I have, for instance, had the experience of instant certainty that I know someone well even before I speak to them, and all further experience (such as dating for several years) only validates my initial thought, and is part of why I can have such a loving, intimate relationship with them. In my opinion, when we fall in love, it’s not really the creation of anything, but rather the recognition of something which is already deep within you.
